“It does not disappear, but just lost a dimension.”

The formation of a space is determined by a given set of rules and order. In our society, spaces can be roughly divided into political, economic, or other types. Each space has its specific knowledge system. A space will become blurred and ambiguous once its knowledge system is detached from it.

Built in the 1950s, the Art Space V was originally the office building of the former Air Force Command Headquarters. Subsequently, its function (ranging from research and military to culture and life) has varied with the change of resident institutions over the course of time. This space is ergo polysemous and divergent in terms of its properties. The work From One Corner to the Other sets great store by its interaction with the viewers, thereby proposing the question concerning the very foundation for the establishment of the spatial dimension.

About the Artist

TAI Han-Hong’s oeuvre encompasses multiple forms such as architecture, sculpture, and kinetic machines. Apart from embodying his extraordinary skills, his works often probe deep into the nature of art, object, and space. He may occasionally make astute observations on the already alienated state of life with artistic vocabulary so beautiful as poems. TAI’s oeuvre owes much of its inspiration to his own life experiences, at which he fires questions through artistic creation. His dialectical thinking finds vivid expression in his creative practice that continues to shuttle between art and real life.
